With the support of Annette’s fellow team members from the “Heritage Society” (Mike Pantsi, Alan Straton and Lungelo Ngabaza) this initiative was remarkedly boosted from strength to strength.
From the onset of the project Alan Straton came in providing free support through a Nelson Mandela Bay Artist Website, where artists have the opportunity to register online & to moreover receive free marketing support of their events.
Another project which is indirectly linked to this initiative, is “There’s no Tourism without Art” where children from Red Location are offered facilitation sessions in Arts, Sport, Environmental & Educational matters. It is the dream of the entire team to get the Red Location Cultural Precinct operative again.
This initiative has been very much welcomed by our local artists. Our Facebook Group is very much abuzz is with the postings of their events, their achievements and their participation on various arts/culture related matters.
From the onset of the project – artists from other areas of South Africa, also became very much attracted to the concept of an artist database and actually requested assistance to be included on our NMB Artist Database as well, which of course was not possible at the time. It is such delightful news since, that the Free State artists also began setting up an artist database for their entire province!
